A Gastronomic Journey: for those with large appetites

It was an unusual day for us. We hardly end work on time so we could never busk in the hype of all the new restaurants that popped up. But "Triple Cheese Hamburg Steak" sounded too good to be given a miss.

We reached the place at 7.45pm hoping that the first wave of dinner crowd would be done. Among us were people that gave up queuing, but we were determined. About 40 minutes later, we were right in the front of the door, hungry but excited to eat.

There were only two items on the menu, Keisuke Prime Beef Hamburg Steak Set ($18.80) and the Triple Cheese Prime Hamburg Steak Set ($20.80) which makes things a lot easier when deciding what to eat. Both sets come with free flow salad and eggs.

Food Review

When I first heard about free flow eggs, I never imagined it to be free flow (any style) of eggs! That makes a big difference to people like me who are not fans of hard boil eggs, which is commonly given out at ramen bars.

There is a total of four styles you can get the chef to prepare for you namely, Tamago, Scrambled, Sunny side up and Fried eggs.

My personal favourite would be the Tamago. It was flavourful and not something you would expect from a free salad bar.

The. Salad. Bar. Is. Awesome.

I absolutely loved the salad bar. The variety offered is beyond what you would see in other places. They serve everything from potato salad, different types of cold pasta, greens, fruits and even coffee jelly for dessert! Start with the tuna pasta and check out the tomatoes, those were my favourites.

Moving on to the highlight of this post, the "Triple Cheese Hamburg Steak" that has got the food scene in Singapore going a little frenzy.

Verdict? It was not as impressive as I hoped it would be. Do not expect flowing cheese to be coming out from your steak. Taste wise was mediocre and nothing to rave about.

However, having said that, the combination of the hamburg steak and the salad bar for less than S$25 is something worth mentioning. I would definitely recommend you to visit Hamburg Steak Keisuke, but be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes.

Hamburg Steak Keisuke is located at 72 Peck Seah Street.
