Bangkok - Kay's Boutique Breakfast

Looking for Insta-worthy OOTDs?

Thanks to a friend who informed me of this place, I was able to visit this beautiful cafe - Kay’s Boutique Breakfast (Rangnam Branch) during my short stay in Bangkok last December. It is the sister cafe to the K Maison boutique hotel and they sit right across the road from each other. In fact, it is the exterior of K Maison boutique hotel that was transformed into a mini rose garden with more than 20,000 flowers installed. They certainly know how to ride on the Instagram trend for people to take beautiful OOTDs and I was clearly not an exception.

While the name Kay’s Boutique Breakfast suggest that it is a breakfast venue, the menu goes beyond your regular egg’s benedict and bacon eggs. Although the menu was not as extensive as I hoped it would be, there were still a range of categories like salad, breakfast items, burgers, pastas and desserts. I was told by a follower of mine that they are pretty known for their french toast and decided to give that a try.

We ordered the Hangover French Toast, a savory signature stuffed with grilled bacon and cheese served with soft-boiled egg. While it did look similar to the picture on the menu, the taste itself was very mediocre; it tasted like soggy buttery bread topped with bacon and unmelted cheese.

Feeling a little uncertain after trying the french toast, we were glad that the Truffle Aglio e Olio - an angel hair pasta with garlic, truffled olive oil and bacon was not bad. The mentioned ingredients blended well with the pasta and the light truffle smell was an added point. This dish was a saving grace to what I thought would have ended off as a bad brunch location.

Premium matcha latte

Premium matcha latte

I enjoyed the premium matcha latte and felt that the matcha powder used was of higher quality than what I would normally find in a cafe.

Overall, a highly recommended place to add in as part of your cafe hopping list but maybe not so much for the food. They do have a newly opened outlet at Central Embassy and I have yet to try that. However, do note that the flowers installation is only at the Rangnam branch!
