Hotel Review - Montigo Resorts, Nongsa

Anniversary at Montigo Resorts, Nongsa

It’s been a month since we celebrated our anniversary at Montigo Resorts, Nongsa. This year, both of us were so caught up with work that we were not able to plan anything till almost 2 weeks before the actual date. Thankfully, the team at Montigo Resorts, Nongsa were so efficient and helpful that I did not have to worry about anything - everything was so well planned out for us!

Montigo Resorts, Nongsa - a chill out paradise within Batam is located 40 minutes by ferry from Singapore. We were told that the entire land is about 12 hectares, which is approximately 17 football fields! That is an insanely huge resort which features 102 villas, each with a private pool in total.

To get there, you can either book a return ferry trip from Batamfast or through Montigo’s website . Take note that the ferry departs from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

We checked in to our 2 bedroom Hillside Villa - a 3 story villa where the ground floor features the living room, kitchen and private plunge pool; the second floor with the 2 bedrooms; the rooftop which overlooks the beautiful sea.

It was not hard getting used to the comfort of living in the villa. We unpacked our belongings as we wait for the buggy to pick us - we were off for a much needed relaxing massage!

We were served tea as they explained to us the different types of massage services they offer, with the Montigo massage and Indonesian massage being their 2 most popular. Naturally, I chose the 60 minute Signature Montigo massage while Joseph chose the latter. If you’ve come for a relaxing time and don’t mind splurging a little, I will highly recommend getting a massage done here!

It was almost dinner time when we were done with our massage. There were 3 options for dinner within Montigo - Pantai, a kelong style seafood restaurant, Tadd’s Restaurant, an all day casual dining place or an In-Villa BBQ Dinner. Since it was our anniversary, we opted for a more intimate dining experience within our villa. You can choose to have your BBQ either by the pool or at the rooftop. As there was a slight drizzle that evening, we had the BBQ set up by the pool.

As we sat in the living room with curtains wide open and watching the sunset, we heard the doorbell rang. Without hesitation, I ran to the door thinking it was the chef that will be cooking our dinner. To my surprise, the team has arranged a special anniversary song to be sang to Joseph and I! It was such a sweet touch to end the wonderful day that we already had in Montigo Resorts, Nongsa.

We woke up early next day for breakfast at Tadd’s Restaurant. I don’t usually eat breakfast but when I’m on holiday, having a good breakfast means everything to me. I was not at all disappointed with the spread that was available with the chicken congee (and it’s variety of toppings) being my favourite!

Another place to catch the sunset apart from the villa would be to head down to Tiigo’s Beach Club! It is located conveniently below Tadd’s Restaurant where we spent the second evening sipping on cocktails by the poolside. It closes at midnight on Friday and Saturday so there is always an option to chill here after dinner as well.

Last but not least, lets not forget the very instagrammable bridge that you could walk out and gaze at the sea at any time of the day. We spotted many people watching the sunset from there as well so it could be a place to check out.

Joseph and I spent 3D2N in total (2D1N was sponsored, courtesy of Montigo Resorts, Nongsa) and will definitely go back again in the future. It was a memorable anniversary and I’m glad I trusted the team to help planned it for me.
